So cute!!! A great option! Even for reception dancing!
Thanks @abasket and @BunsenBurner for the suggestions! I am actually MOG but know my DIL does want me to be comfortable and dress in a style that is more “me.”
I like these mules!
Oops- I posted on the other wedding thread, but will post here too. Nordstrom has lots of dresses on sale, including some brands often mentioned here.
I like this long, beaded dress. Not sure it would look good on me personally, but I think it is pretty. Sizes very limited - https://www.saksoff5th.com/product/aidan-mattox-beaded-column-gown-0400014308764.html?site_refer=SOC_BEH_O5_STITCH_FBIG_TRAFFIC_EVGR_ALL_3LALLoyCustCRM_CLICKS_AutoP_CARO_All_SAID%3DFjDHSNWuN06RBKZB&fbclid=IwAR0SiGOwqFpDdRiZ1L3JBcicveljZH9SlrjuD8poAb-AaPA7hfIxV9G6izM#tt-reviews-summary
I ordered a similar dress by the same designer to try on. Very pretty but all the beading makes it very heavy.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever ordered from jjshouse. They always seem to have styles I like but the prices make me skeptical. Good or bad opinions?
I would avoid them. I know a few people who ordered from them and were not happy. The one I saw in person was poorly made and didn’t look anything like it looked on the website. This was several years ago so not sure if they have improved. I tried to stick to department stores since they are easy to return.
I tried several beaded gowns and one was one of my final candidates but I decided it was just very heavy.
Also be aware that Saks off Fifth doesn’t have free returns. I was able to return to a store in an outlet center but I had to drive 45 minutes to do that. Saks Fifth Avenue the regular store is free returns.
Thanks for the reply. I definitely was skeptical. It’s too bad cause I really do like some of the pictures of the styles they have. Oh well!!
I also liked several of their dresses but felt wary based on online reviews. I am not a fan of ordering online in general and the return policy was too much to overcome. I liked looking at the pictures associated with the reviews and seeing “real” people in the dresses, but a lot of those were custom and therefore non-returnable. I didn’t want to take the chance.
Same here. I liked some of the styles but didn’t want to take the chance with the reviews and possible return issues. I’m trying to stick with companies that I can return something to the store in person and that have good return policies in general. I returned something already to Macy’s that didn’t work with no problem , got something delivered from Nordstrom that I am keeping that I will probably wear to the rehearsal dinner, and am currently waiting for potential MOG dress from Dillard’s . I have a Dillard’s nearby so any return necessary will be easy.
Hi @sevmom I got the Cecily dress but it was too small. I had read it ran large and I’m between sizes so I ordered the smaller one. Couldn’t really get a feel for if I like it enough or not so I’m exchanging for the next size up although I kind of feel it may run small rather than large. We shall see how one size up works.
Hi, @bhs1978 , It is a nice dress and seemed well made. I also felt it ran small. Hope the next size up works for you, and if not, that you find another dress you’ll love!
I ordered a dress for a wedding I attended as a guest this past September from JJ house. It was on on-sale and the quality was OK but I would have not paid full price for the dress. I too was a bit hesitant based on the reviews however I did receive many compliments on the dress.
Same to you. I definitely have more time than you do. I got the dress at a really good price and they are exchanging at that sale price so it would be nice if it works. Keep us updated on your search.
Just got the Adrianna Papell dress delivered today from Dillard’s. Probably won’t try it on as I just don’t think it ended up looking like what I expected. Ordering online is so tricky. I am keeping the floral dress I ordered from Nordstrom, but it will probably be for the rehearsal dinner. The consensus seemed to be it was too “busy” for wedding day and pictures. Back to the drawing board!
Oh that is too bad… remind us - do you want a tea length, blush colored (or similar colors) dress with sleeves?
Tea length/midi. 3/4 or long sleeves for mid May outdoor Virginia wedding. Pastel colors(probably preferred) or possibly navy blue. I’ll find something (I’ll have to ), probably will go in person again to a store to look around. Hopefully, the spring stuff is in or will be soon.
This is very pretty:
