Thanks! I’m positive I will be able the right one!
Update, I’m returning all of the dresses except for the Adrianna Papell in Rose Gold. (Returning Navy, Lead, Champagne Gold, and Cabernet). So, that decision has been made: I have my fancy dress for the wedding/reception. I may keep looking for a day dress, but I’ve pretty much given up on the Alfred Sung posted earlier. There’s no easy way to try one on. I am keeping an eye on Poshmark in case one shows up!
Can you remind us what the dress looks like, please?
This is the dress I am keeping (in Rose Gold):
Thanks for asking!
(Presidents’ Day weekend had a 25% off promo on the site. I checked instagram and 25% off was fairly rare so I ordered three dresses. Maybe this hint to check instagram for promo codes and discounts will help someone).
That’s a beautiful choice.
Gorgeous dress!
That’s lovely Mom22039! I like the tiny little train in back. So elegant!
Beautiful dress! Love the color. It will look great in the elegant hotel ballroom.
Love that dress!
Ummmm…. I think I’m getting addicted to dress shopping. This is not good for the $$ Budget.
I prefer to buy from Nordstrom because returns are easy, we have a nearby store, and can get alterations.
I like this dress as a possibility for the rehearsal dinner. I need to check the measurements. Nordstrom is out of stock in my size. I’m waiting to see if they re-stock.

This one arrived and I may wear it to the shower. The model looks a little broad. (OK, my waist is more narrow) I adore the deep rosy hot pink color — it was the color I had more my own engagement party and bridesmaids dresses oh so long ago. I don’t adore the shoulder ruffles but it could be fun for this year.

As I’m getting to addicted, this dress also arrived from Nordstrom. The week after D2’s wedding we have a family wedding in NJ — Black tie optional. Warm summer night, reception/dinner until 11PM.
This is probably not intended as a black tie dress, but it is full length on me and I can dress it up with sparkly shoes and a wrap — and a good fit with alterations.
So D1 remembered she has a dress, I might want to borrow:
Do you like the smaller flowers dress 3 above or the bolder flowers in the dress that can be borrowed from D1?
So, what do you think?
I have to say I’m a big fan of that first one - lace midi dress in ivory blue - just looks so cute and would be flattering on so many figures. Springy too! Also like the dress your daughter has - looks like it would highlight a narrow waist (which you mentioned you have) in a great way!
I like the smaller flowers dress better. And agree, you can dress it up!
Love the blue dress you are considering for the rehearsal.
Agree—the blue floral dress is very cute and sophisticated at the same time. The dress D will loan you looks perfect and can’t beat great price. I’m not a fan of ruffles so am not a fan of the pink dress.
I’m not a fan of the Maggie London dress. Personally, I’m a big fan of halter style necklines because they do not create those awful armpit creases some sleeveless dresses do. I’d pick one of those two.
Two of the dresses are halters. I do have the awkward boob creases! If the alterations don’t work well enough I’d have to use “boob tape”!
Thanks all for the thoughts and opinions. They are always fun. And appreciated.
I just started shopping for my daughter’s May 2023 wedding. It seems early but I want to get this out of the way and I also have heard it will take six months to get some of these dresses delivered and then more time for alterations.
Anyhow, my issue is that I like a wine-colored dress. Given that it is a spring wedding, my daughter wants me to pick lighter-colored dresses. However, all the lighter-colored dresses, make me look washed out or show too much of the bumps. I also need an a-line or sheath-type dress because I am short and the dresses with fuller skirts look terrible on me. The bridesmaids will be wearing sage-colored dresses. So, it looks like this could be ok on the color wheel. I have also considered emerald
green, which also looks good but can’t find the right dress. I have gone to three shops and Macy’s. I attach a photo of the dress I am considering. I also like this shop because they do in-house alterations. The sample runs small on me but otherwise, I like the way it fits. What do you think of the color?
@BunsenBurner whats the name of the body wear that can help hide those bumps?? Really…that should help this mom!
I love the color. I’m also a person who doesn’t look great in washed out color so I definitely understand the dilemma. Pretty dress also
I think the color is pretty, but more importantly, what does your daughter think? Since she vetoed your last color choice I would go to her first to see if she approves.
