I love the color. I’m also one who looks best in darker colors. I wore burgandy wine colored dress for one wedding and navy for the other two. One of the weddings was in June and I was hesitant about navy but I was happy with my choice.
I really like that color on you. I am another one who does not look great in light colors since they wash me out.
Me too! I wore a kind of merlot color to my son’s August wedding and navy to my daughters March wedding. I would have worn navy to both but the bridesmaids wore navy so that was the only color I was not supposed to wear.
Love the color.
I don’t like the pink dress with ruffles. It looks really frumpy on the model, but if you have a smaller waist it might look good on you. I like your daughter’s halter dress more than the one with smaller flowers.
I like the wine color. It’s an interesting shade. Fingers crossed that your daughter doesn’t nix it!
I ordered and returned a small army of dresses… have a few potential candidates that I will let daughter pick from when she gets back from her trip. And I found a nice cat themed tie for Mr. B!
Wanted to post links to what I ordered, but they are all sold out! Yikes I must have picked popular ones.
Well…you know you can just take pictures of the hanging dresses and upload them here now.
Haha! Too much work. JK. Some are still on the way. I might do that later when the last ones of the dresses arrive.
Anything in jewel toned blue? The wine color is pretty but just says “winter” to me.
lia_b - I love the color of the dress and I think the style is flattering too!
Ditto the above - I’d go w/whatever your daughter wants!
I don’t have a daughter, but I’d tell my dd to chill and let me wear something I love and feel great in!
I think that’s a great dress in a lovely shade. Hope the bride loves it as much as all of us do!
I love the dress on you.!
I think the wine color is fine any time of year. My only concern would be that it might look a little like Christmas with sage bridesmaids. I also like the wine/cranberry colors, but have nixed them because my D’s bridesmaids will be in a greenish color.
I don’t have daughters but I would consult a daughter if I did, about style and color. I asked my daughter in law’s opinion . And my husband consulted our son about suit color, tie, etc. for son’s wedding next month. Most brides and grooms are hopefully reasonable and accepting of style and color preferences.
I’m glad someone said this! I was thinking this as well.
I think the best plan is to run this by the bride, and see how she feels. When I went dress shopping, I sent pics to my daughter as I found options (thanks to a friend!) and my daughter helped with the choosing.
The step next to the dress looks kind of sage. I think it looks great. I also think the moms shouldn’t try to blend in too much with the bridesmaids. How many pics will the moms be in with the wedding party? I only was in pics with my sons, one of whom was the groom and one of whom was the best man.
Thanks for the replies. My daughter likes the dress but would prefer a spring like color that matches with sage. Unfortunately, it only comes in that color, navy and black. I feel a dark green will go better but will make it look like I am the MOH as it is in the green family. All the pink family dresses I tried look bad on me. I do send her pics of all the dresses I tried. I will keep looking for now. Maybe a dark violet.
By, “spring-like,” does your daughter mean a pastel color? I think navy works year-round. Is she opposed to navy? It would look great with sage. Any idea what color the MOG is wearing yet?
Could you do a silvery/gray color?
I like darker colors as well, but I think that lighter colors that are more, “icy”/cool can work for me. A mauve, maybe?
I have a huge fear that any future dil will want me to wear some color that I look atrocious in, but I will do whatever I am asked to do.
I do think navy is (for some reason?) a bit more of an all season color.
From the picture you posted, it looks like (if I’m seeing it right) your hair has a bit of red tone.
Found this article on spring colors for redheads. Would peach work?
+1 to navy looking great with sage.
