Mom received FA award letter; no acceptance received

Hi All:

I am new to this college admissions process. Confused today when I got a FA award letter from a college my D applied to but has not gotten an acceptance from. I am assuming she has been accepted, but is it common for FA to come before the acceptance letter?

Is the acceptance online?

I’m surprised the college sent a finaid letter to the parents…my guess is the acceptance is in your D’s e-mail SteveMA mentions.

Nope. No email for d. So it is unusual, right??

Did she apply to a particular program within the university? D has received FA awards from colleges that haven’t admitted her-- because she has applied to performing arts programs that have another layer to the admission process.

You can always contact the school in question and ask.

By online, does your D have a prospective student sign on for the college and the information is there?

Ahhhhhhh…Gwen: I think you may have cleared it up for me. Yes, D applied for conservatory but needs to be accepted to “regular” college before they take her. I hope this is a good sign that they are moving fast on this stuff so they can take her at the conservatory!!

PS: What would I do without my CC buds? You guys are awesome. So smart, so much information! Thank you.
