mommy, when i grow up...

i wanted to be a doctor..but i still do..i think i have to potential to be alive for another 10 yrs after high school sigh

i have a list
a pilot
a police officer
a firefighter
a spy (cus its cool)
a soldier
a mom (i thought i need a degree or sth)
a doctor
fashion designer
teacher
ceo of sth huge :D

I wanted to be a marine biologist and go to MIT, haha. I still want to go to MIT, but in chemistry instead of marine biology.

I didn’t think of what I wanted to be when I was in 5th grade.

I wanna be famous,
I wanna be a star,
I wanna be in movies.
When I grow up,
I wanna see the world,
Drive nice cars,
I wanna have groupies.

I used to think they were saying “boobies” instead of “groupies.”

My parents told me I should be a lawyer/doctor, so I went with it.

Then I grew a bit of a spine in the 10th grade and decided that I’m going to do something related to archaeology.

In 5th grade I’m pretty sure I wanted to be a politician.

When I was really little I wanted to be a sanitation engineer. Riding on the back of the truck looked so cool. And if I got to see them compacting the trash in front of my house, it pretty much made my week.

I also went through a period of wanting to be a firefighter, but didn’t everybody?

Most of middle school and freshman year of high school I wanted to be a journalist, which I was pretty sure about. Then I joined paper and discovered I hate writing articles (ironically paper is still one of my favorite EC’s).

What’s kind of funny though, my family predicted when I was in elementary school that I would be a professor or lawyer, which I’m at this point quite certain will happen.

Ive wanted to be a cardiovascular surgeon since I was in 5th Grade…things havent changed much except now I want to be a surgeon + a politician

Oh wow. Maybe…

My elementary school dream was to start my own media empire so I could bankrupt Barnes and Nobles.
In middle school, I thought I’d go to Harvard Law and start my own prestigious law firm.
I’m almost through with high school and have the loose plan to attend UMCP or Columbia for engineering, get bored with my career and go to law school with a specialization in Intellectual Property Law, thus not wasting the time I spent earning my BS.

When I was little I wanted to be a pirate, but by 5th grade I think I figured out I couldn’t really be that. I don’t really remember and can’t think as I did in 5th grade but I think I would have wanted to be a lawyer, because I had a really rich friend who’s dad was a lawyer.

I had a desk in the garage, and I had crayons and paper stacked neatly. I folded the paper to make a little booklet. Motivated by the Adventures of Captain Underpants I began to draw and made a comic of epic proportions. It was named Super Dog! Super Dog went to great lengths to save the world. I sold my comics for a dollar. I had a buyer. Her name… well, I refer to her as mom.

Yeah, I wanted to make comic books.
Other than that I always imagined being a medical doctor.

I wanted to be a doctor because I liked the stethoscopes. But also, the first female president. I think astronaut was pretty appealing at the time too.

I wanted to be a doctor in 5th grade. It’s still a very good possibility, actually.

Lawyer.

I did not have a very exciting childhood.

I wanted to be a mailman (woman?) when I was really little (the glamorous life, for sure) Then in 7-8th grade, I started watching Project Runway and I wanted to be a fashion designer but then I realized I can’t sew. Freshman year I wanted to be a journalist but then I joined newspaper, hated my teacher, and realized that writing articles is a lot of work and involves a lot of not fun things like interviews.

Now, I really don’t know. I might want to be a psychiatrist, or a health policy lawyer or a professor.

When I was a baby/toddler, my parents encouraged me to become a model when I grow up, so I guess that was my dream for a while…but I probably got really ugly because nowadays my parents don’t even mention model as a career for me, and instead want me to become a doctor or a surgeon. And they constantly say stuff like, “As long as you are a doctor, men will instantly drool after you without giving a crap about your looks!”
Right now, I kinda want to become a small bakery or cafe owner because I love to cook bread and cookies, but my parents will hear no nonsense of that sort ^^.

This thread reminds me of a song called Fade Away by Oasis.

*When I was young
I thought I had my own key
I knew exactly what I wanted to be
Now I’m sure
You’ve boarded up every door

Lived in a bubble
Days were never ending
Was not concerned
About what life was sending
Fantasy was real
Now I know much
About the way I feel

I’ll paint you the picture
'Cause I don’t think you live round here no more
I’ve never even seen
The key to the door
We only get what we will settle for

While we’re living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we’re living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away
While we’re living
The dreams we have as children
Fade away, away, away
They fade away, away, away

Now my life has turned
Another corner
I think it’s only best
That I should warn you
Dream it while you can
Maybe someday I’ll make you understand

I’ll paint you the picture
'Cause I don’t think you live round here no more
I’ve never even seen
The key to the door
We only get what we will settle for *

Please do not laugh. I beg you, PLEASE do not laugh.

Or just laugh anyway. :P

When I was little, I thought you could “grow up” and be a cartoon–that there were people in the world who were cartoons. Like, they lived in the cartoon world and everything. So I told my mom I wanted to be a cartoon…

I wanted to go to Harvard, and become…a teacher.
But, I also wanted to be a Power Ranger/super hero/ Harry Potter. None of those are happening, lol. :)
