OH MY! My daughter just got one 2 weeks ago while on holiday in the Czech Republic. It is under the bikini line though. She should notify DODMERB now? or wait?

IMO she probably should because she has to answer truthfully when she gets her paperwork if there are any changes to her medical status. I would contact my B&G officer to find out what they think as well. Remind her that nothing's a done deal until she raises her right hand and repeats that oath of office. She needs to do everything she can to make sure that happens. Because we knew people who had older kids who'd gone to USNA, we told our son that football was out between graduation and I-Day...it just wasn't worth the risk and sure enough, at his I-Day there was a boy who'd broken his hand and was turned away. Now, if something happens after I-Day, they'll do everything they can to keep you in but not before

OH she is the most honest teenager I know and she is always upfront and honest about everything and I know she will take care of letting them know ... And as she is a regular on here I am sure she will chime in at any point now with a post from her college dorm! :)

In fact Mom, in the admission packet with early "next steps" there is a specific form asking about tatoos past and present. She'll have to report it on that form. No pix. :eek:

That's good, she sounds like she's going to do well at USNA. It's just always best to be proactive in these cases.

Tats=OUCH!,OUCH!,OUCH!

atrmom-You offer sage advice, however, you have me feeling anxious.......our son is in season, lax. :eek: Not exactly a gentle sport. :eek: And he plays attack, otherwise known as 'defensemen magnet.'

Our son insists on continuing to play rugby. It's a risk, but you can't stop living life and following your passions.

Yup. I got my tattoo in Prague. I specifically got it on my hip bone so that it would show underneath a bathing suit. I just got it, so I guess I can call the Academy tomorrow and tell them, but I dont' think it should be a problem because it isn't anything offensive or large or anything.

Lola ... wait. When you receive your admission certificate and initial packet, there is a specific form asking if you've done what you've done. What was you thinkin' girl! Oh well. Dam under the water.

CelticClan07, he should definitely continue his sport...we were more concerned about the pick-up games without the benefit of pads. It actually worked out, our son was the all-time quarterback! Fortunately, he only had 14 days between graduation and I-Day. Make sure he runs, runs, runs!!! That's is usually the plebe killer during plebe summer. The better shape you're in, the easier those 5:30 AM PEP sessions will be.

I don't think we could keep him from playing atrmom! And he is really enjoying his last hoorah playing lax, since he's a Sr. Won't keep me from worrying though ;) Running is something he does not enjoy, but does it regardless.

Thanks for the response.

MOM2LOLA, PESKYMOM-

The boy is in! He got in! He got his appointment packet today! I am so excited and he is cool as a cucumber. I have shed more tears of joy than I know what to do with (the dang things are still leaking out!). I'm sure I will shed more tears of sadness when my little man is away. How I will need you both.

I don't think it has sunk in 100% with him, yet. He's called everyone who has helped him and I'd like to thank you guys for helping me help him.

Now, to write the book.

Love,
