Money and Early Decision

Does Wharton give a lot of financial aid to out of state applicants for Early Decision? Like if i apply ED, will i recieve any type of financial aid?

helpful fact: penn is not a public school. therefore, there is no discrimination in the financial aid department based on location. penn is need-blind and meets 100% of need (as they see it) in the ed and rd rounds equally. that said, if financial aid is a real concern from your family, then you should probably apply rd so that you can compare aid packages from different schools. there is a good chance you could get more from other schools since penn does not give merit money.

dun apply ed it is binding. tho they give lots of monies you dont wanna be in that position, so wait til rd and then you can look at the fin aid and be like "ok i liek/don liek this"
so yeah dont do ed if fin aid is important
itz how they discriminate against the poor 2 b honest liek me

Colleges use fin aid packets as bargaining chips to get desirable students to come to their respective schools. I applied ED and I got a fin aid packet--BUT, it could be SOOO much better. Your ED school will take advantage of the fact that if you must accept the package they give you. If the package is just TOO little, you can file for more and (in some cases) even revoke your ED contract, but this is highly undesirable--and sometimes very unlikely. Colleges will give you money to fit your income level--but just barely enough. Don't apply ED unless you are absolutely, positively sure that you will go to that school--no matter the cost. Also, if you KNOW that you could get into that college fairly easily, then don't waste your ED card. Get into other equally-leveled colleges and try to get better fin aid packets to bargain with your college.
