i really wanna go to uw, but i don't wanna come out with a ton of student loans. i'm willing to work as much as i can (not affecting studies). thanks for the help guys!

On the same boat as you, and i have spent a lot of time looking for ways i can get around with paying for OOS. Basically UW Seattle is not known for giving merit aid (esp oos), so I doubt we have huge chances pf getting any based on grades/test scores. Im guessing if you have 0 EFC you may get 5645 pell grant and a max of 5500 loans. The rest of the cost you’ll have to cover with outside scholarships etc.

But then again until official award letters are sent, this is only a mere estimate from the net price calculator in the UW website.

I know the cost is ridiculous, and I’m looking at paying about 6000/quarter after the grant and loans + housing which costs roughly 3000/quarter. Exactly why I applied to UW Bothell (they have my major) and they at least gave me merit aid, so the costs are not as high as if I went to Seattle.

Anyways, what i would suggest is to get a job of course, and negotiate with your family on how much they’re willing to pay/quarter to finance your expenses. UW doesnt seem to have an installment plan for tuition so I’m guessing you’ll have to pay a full balance at a certain deadline.

Best of luck to us!
