.....money?

I hate to be That Person and I really hate to be a stat-poster, but I am getting desperate.

I have a 3.7uw/4.7w GPA, 2240 on SAT, plenty of APs with with good AP testing scores, and excellent ECs. Not the best scores, but compared to the averages I have seen for UMinn I would be on the high end academically there. My EFC is also relatively low. However, I got no scholarships. No grants. Nothing but loans. I am OOS, and as cheap as UMinn is, it is still not realistic for me financially. If I got any sort of grants or scholarships, it would be. It totally would be. I called the fin aid office a while back and they told us there was no money left to give. I was pretty surprised I didn't get anything from UMinn, particularly since I had gotten ~20000 a year from all my other schools (really not trying to brag, just making situation clear).

Is there any chance I may get money in the coming years? Any options I have not yet pursued? I would really love to attend UMinn but finances are a big deal. Help? Thoughts?

Admitted to CLA by the way.

When they said no money left, do you mean financial aid or scholarships? I have yet to send in my tax forms to update my fafsa… 0.0

blaserk…When did you apply to U of Minn? If you got your application in after Dec 15th, you missed the priority deadline for admissions as well as consideration for scholarships. It doesn’t mean anyone applying after that date automatically gets nothing, but the majority of scholarship funding is awarded to those meeting the deadline. If your application was complete prior to Dec 15th, then I would’ve expected you would receive at least some scholarship money based on your stats so I don’t know how to explain it.

As far as scholarships in future years, CLA may have some scholarships available for current CLA students who perform very well. I know CBS has some such monies that you can fill our applications for, but I can’t say for sure if CLA does or not. You can check their website to see. Good Luck!!

I submitted my application almost as soon as it was available. Waaaaay before the December 15th priority deadline… I am pretty confused too.

Flash- uhoh, youre pretty late on the FAFSA. I don’t know details on the money, but I would suggest you get FAFSA in NOW.

What happens to the $$$ that is offered to students who choose to attend
another university?

^gingembre: Not sure how UMN handles it, but this link posed the same question in general terms:
