Check to see if your school has an ATM of any particular bank before you sign up with them.

find out what banks are close to your school. and, a lot of banks have special promotions that come along with opening a checking account, so find one that appeals to you and has a lot of atms around campus.

Good job for thinking about money.

Many banks like Bank of America offer horrible interest rates. Make sure you find an account that offers 4%+. If you want a referral to ING Direct (4% interest checking and 4.5% interest savings), PM me. Disclosure: it's $25 for you and $10 for me.

Of the banks you listed, only WaMu and HSBC have high yield savings accounts I believe.

Check out this Citibank promotion..

BoA just got sued for selling your private information. Just keep that in mind.

Look for banks that have student programs, like a student savings account with no minimum balance, free checking, things like that. WaMu is good for this.
