Monmouth University 2025

Thank you! I’m OOS, New York

Are your stats high? I know they give more $ OOS than instate. I am trying to get my D more $. She was accepted into honors but needs about 5K more to make it work.
She has a 3.76UW/4.15W 1330 SAT & lots of EC’s. 5 AP’s, 1 pre-college class, mostly Honors classes

I have a 4.0UW and 4.2 W GPA (my school doesn’t do heavy weights for AP/DE Classes)
Top 4% of my class (~750 students)
3 APs and 8 Dual Enrollment Classes
1290 SAT (sadly only got to take it once)
Awards for volunteer work
E.C: 3 year student council member, peer mentor, NHS and spanish NHS, and i was selected for a paid internship through my h.s. although i wasn’t able to do it because of COVID
Hope that helps!

I think out of state tuition at Monmouth is the same as in state tuition, but I may be wrong.

Yes tuition is same but I heard they give more merit oos

I think you are correct. That does not make me happy about Monmouth at all. Universities usually give preference to in state students. If there is no difference in tuition, it does not seem fair that oos students are given higher merit scholarships than in state students with higher stats (my son’s stats are higher than others posted and he did not receive $25,000)

@2021twinboys same for my daughter. I requested a re-eval & they will look at mid senior year grades
I spoke to 2 people & one had lower SAT & grades & got 6K more

Was the other student who got 6k more oos?

Yes @2021twinboys

I think that OOS get more because they will not be commuters? They will need to stay at one of the dorms at least for the first year… perhaps that is why they get more money to make them want to come to NJ.

Maybe, but I still do not think that is fair. We are in state, but my son will be living on campus as well. Who knows why these universities do the things they do ?? :woman_shrugging:

is this a year or total the merit money that has been posted here is it total for the 4 years or per year?

I came back to say I got accepted but offered $12K a year scholarship??? I live in NJ and its not enough not when other universities are sending acceptance letters to me and are offering $85K-$125K…scholarships… so its a NO to Monmouth from me. Good luck to all

We got them up To $20.5K a year on appeal. We are in NJ but my D choose another school

@Aimeenut Are you saying the $20.5K was total merit/need? Or in addition to what they already gave at time of acceptance? Where did you want to be at with the $?

Total merit but she chose Marist instead

i have decided not to attend monmouth, however my school automatically sent my senior mid year grades and they reevaluated my scholarship based on that. $26k per year OOS

Good luck at your chosen school! Nice merit…that’s exactly what my D needs to attend. About $6k away. Maybe I’ll ask them to reevaluate.

My D got an email to check her portal today & she got an additional 2K

Good to know, thanks! We were away this week doing tours in Florida. I will have to check to see if my D received an email also.
