Mono

please someone, tell me an uplifting story about a kid who got mono but still got into school. I'm dead sick, right before midterms!

On a more serious note, should I send a doctors note to Princeton?

God, stop hating me dude...

my sister had mono her junior year. She missed a lot of school and ended up getting a C+ in math. She still got into Boston College, UC Berkeley, and UCLA. Make sure your counselor knows and tells all the schools you're applying to. Sleep! Don't despair!

i actually had a blood test that verified i had mono two days after i submitted my application online this year...i was out for the entire month of november - incredibly behind (7 ap classes), and i'll probably get my first b on my hs transcript ever (calc bc, not a math person)...

anyway, this past week, i was overwhelmed to learn i'll be attending princeton next year, so that's definitely helped my recovery...

have your counselor explain in the counselor's report any declining grades...i'm having mine include a message concerning it in case my b on the mid-year report turns any heads (though i seriously doubt...and hope it wont...lol)

hope to see u in the big nj some day cityknight

Mine test came in a day or so after my deferral... UMD here I come!

that's interesting...it seems like everyone at my school is getting it

I don't think that's indicative of anything -- a lot of people get it by sharing drinks/food, too. Eep, I really should stop doing that.

well then frozen-tears, please tell me how your comment contributes anything more to the conversation mine didn't...i wasnt aware we were debating

I wasn't aware we were debating, either. Just commenting that maybe the mono going around your school isn't a result of everyone sticking their tongues down everyone else's throats -- which was the original idea I was getting from your post. Glad to hear that I'm mistaken, and that wasn't what you were saying.

No worries. I got a more severe illness, and I'm shooting for Princeton with full confidence!

And no one hates you for your malady. You are looked as equal as everyone else.

Don't be haunted by the notion of "I can't do it because I got mononucleosis." Try to see yourself BEYOND your illness. Remember you don't have to be defined by what afflicted you. You are just as great as your old self when you didn't suffer from mono.

Be optimistic. I know you can do it. =)

See you in Princeton. By then, your case will be the "uplifting story" of the mono-afflicted applicants that follow. ;)

a bit belligerent there, aren't we tiger?

that fire's already smoldered; no need to stir up the past...frozen_tears misread a post of mine and commented before she/he understood what i was getting at...that's that

Yes, it's alright. Thanks for understanding.

I forgive you too. ;)

awwwww... so sweet

now lie to me and tell me im getting into all my schools ^_^

im not gonna lie to you, but i will say your mono will not hinder your chances, and you have a great shot at every school you're applying to...

remember, most kids are very adaptable and are happy in the long run wherever they end up....
