Monroe Scholars notification

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when the Monroe Scholars notification will happen? My daughter was accepted ED but I don't if that means she's not considered for Monroe? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I think she has a pretty good shot based on passed statistics

I would guess probably this week or next week

Thanks. We'll see what happens.

I got my notification a few weeks ago. It was a negative on the scholarship.

2007Senior, did you mean Monroe? Or Murray?

I think 2007Senior must mean the Murray...my daughter's friend was nominated for it and found out that she didn't get it a couple of weeks ago.

I'm guessing the intention was Monroe, not Murray. The Murray notification came out a long time ago, and by email.

I think those RD applicants who are getting the Monroe scholarship are typically notified a little earlier, and that's what the OP was asking about.

does Monroe find out by email or snail mail?

they e-mailed me.
I applied RD.

what's the benefit?
do they give out scholarships if you're selected as a Monroe Schoar?

I got notified about Monroe Scholars too. I don't think there's any scholarship attached to the program though.

No but it's a good deal. My daughter found out she got it today

You get a $2000 academic stipend which you can use for travel or research, as well as eligibility to live in Monroe Hall (or maybe priority to live in Monroe Hall, which isn't really that nice, but it's the best location of a freshman dorm, and it's where a lot of the academic superstars live).

I'm a Murray finalist, and they told me over the phone that we get the Monroe scholarship automatically, even if we don't make it all the way to Murray. It's a nice deal, I guess, although a small tuition scholarship would be nice too.

the Monroe is $3000 now, which you are expected to do something productive with.

I Received the letter yesterday for the Monroe Scholar with a $3,000 steipend:). I am from the New York area. Good Luck to everyone.

I applied RD and received my acceptance packet along with my Monroe Scholars (3k stipend) acceptance yesterday (3/10)...

You find out via snail-mail (I am from TN)

You're right Meesh, I mean't Murray. Sorry for that misreading. I actually did get the Monroe. The letter came by snail-mail Friday. My mistake.

Monroe Benefits:

is this something that you have to specifically apply for or do they just give it automaticaly to compelling applicants?

ak72889,
I did not apply for it specifically. I did, however, apply for the Murray Scholarship, so my app for that may have doubled as my Monroe app.

Congrats to all who have heard from W and M so far!

All applicants are automatically considered for the Monroe Scholars program. When my oldest d applied for Fall 2001, we were told Monroes constituted the top 10 percent of the applicant pool; when my middle d applied for Fall 2005, that had become the top 7 percent.
