Hi everyone, so I am down to my final 2 options for colleges (MSU and OSU) and I would like some recommendations on which school I should attend. I plan to major in engineering (most likely electrical, but nothing is ruled out) and both of these school seem to have acclaimed engineering programs. I am from Portland, OR, though I have visited the campuses of both colleges and both are located in what seem to be nice smaller college towns (Bozeman and Corvallis). Oregon State seems much more diverse and is about 1/10 of the drive so it has the slight edge in that department. For me college will be primarily about optianing a good education
and I feel confident in either of these schools to do so. During the tours, MSU’s professors and staff seemed more open and friendly than those of Oregon State so they have the edge there. Furthermore MSU has around half the students Oregon state has so smaller class sizes are a plus. As for $$$ I have already gotten the financial aid decision from MSU, but not OSU yet so I will update when I find out.
Consider where you want to live after college. Portland area companies actively recruit engineering students from OSU.
OSU is a member of the Pac 12 sports conference, which is one of 5 super sports conferences (Pac 12, Big 10, Big 12, SEC and ACC). Generally, the Pac 12 schools have high academic standards. I believe OSU’s academics is higher than MSU.
