Has anyone succeeded in scheduling an audition yet?
Are you having an issue/problem?
Yes the link for signing up for an audition does not seem to work
I’m also having this issue too, anyone else solve it
Most of the schools don’t open the audition signup til Sept. 1. Try then.
I received this information from the Montclair Office of Admissions: In order to schedule an audition, you will need to complete your application and send in all supplemental documents, including high school transcripts. We will begin inviting students for auditions in mid-September.
Good luck!
Does “inviting” mean they have a prescreen?
No, I don’t believe so
with some schools, you can’t make an audition appt until you have submitted all materials, once you have done all of that then you may get a code, or something else that allows you to access auditions sign up
Just an FYI on Montclair. We had issues with them last year. They seem to be unorganized . Had issues hearing of academic admission, late getting results from audition, actually audition day was very disappointing. No communication or any direction on audition day at all. Not impressed. Maybe ours was the outlier experience not sure but I seem to remember others having problems so just keep that in mind for future reference
With Montclair, follow directions carefully and yes, you have to be invited to audition before you can schedule it. My advice is if you have questions, call the MT department, not admissions. It is a big school - 18,000 undergrads or something like that - and there are just a few majors that require special audition, and the admissions people never seem well-versed in the process. Go directly to the theater department. In other years people were directed to Kim Whittam who was kind of the MT liaison to admissions; not sure if that is different this year but worth starting there. I remember talking to her a few times myself and she was helpful.
I contacted someone in the department about it they said the scheduler link won’t be up for a few weeks
Montclair was the only program my D applied to last year that required we mail in all of her application materials. It was hard to believe that they still did things by snail mail.
@Mardeen It is a bit odd. I kept poking around the site to see if there was a way to send in items electronically!!
Full disclosure, my D is an MT at Montclair. I remember thinking the same thing as I was actually putting a stamp on an envelope containing her audition application. “Who does this anymore!” I’ll be the first to admit that their administrative hurdles are not always the easiest to navigate, both during the audition process and beyond. But the extra effort was worth it for us in the end. She is happy and can’t imagine herself anywhere else.
