Hi...My D auditioned on March 20th for Montclair dance. We just received a letter on March 24th that she still needed to audition. Frustrating ...and mostly voice mail when we call. Has anyone heard from Montclair dance yet?

My D auditioned over a month ago for music theatre and has not heard anything. She was admitted academically to the college back in January. I called admissions and they asked if she auditioned! They said that I would need to call the theatre dept. to find out when she will be notified.

They are pretty slow in notifying applicants about their decisions. My D got her admissions acceptance in mid-March as an "undeclared major" and then the following week got another acceptance from admissions as a "Theater Studies" major. I would call or email the theater department if I were you.

Not to worry. My D was accepted, and they still send notices that she has not finished her application(!) There have been many glitches at this school between the admissions office and the music thtr dept. Just call the later and ask.

I auditioned this past saturday and I still haven't recieved an acceptance or rejection from the university yet. I'm assuming they'll be sending both at around the same time.

Hi everyone...I have the scoop on Montclair after talking to someone high up in admissions yesterday. Some students are accepted by the university and notified right away and others they do not accept right away because the audition pushes thier acceptance. Once the performing arts department puts their reccomendation of yes back in the hands of the University...the "mail" that makes no sense that you are receiving should stop. I hope you will all send me your positive vibes right now because I was told on the phone that my D WAS accepted for Dance...BUT they are on the fence because of academics and Sat's....very upset and worried. but she and I knew her audition was great and it was!! oh well

Yes, this schools seems to work differently from others, but I will say that if you can get through to the higher ups in the theatre dept. (which I have 3 or 4 times) you can get a pretty honest answer. The answer a month ago was my D was very high on the wait list. The answer yesterday was that he could not make it completely "official" but he really said she was in for MT! YAY!! She may go up on 4/7 to audition for BFA Acting anyway, because we really did not see the campus the last time. Once she gets that over with and two more re-auditions, she can decide. Can't wait for her to get back from her senior class trip (she is in England, poor girl!) to tell her!

do they do a senior showcase in NYC? That's kind of the deal breaker for me when it comes to college!

I do not think they do a senior showcase. They did state that people from NY come to see their shows. Still no word from this school. My D sent an email and called/left messages. She also keeps getting emails to apply and she was admitted academically back in January. I also am not so sure about the academics at this school. She did receive a call from someone with poor communication skills about a newsletter. She did not give any info since I wondered if it was legitimate. I would think the college would have all her info already in their records.

rglick...you should be hearing in the next few days. Good luck.

anyone still waiting for a letter from Pace MT?

My D auditioned th 24th of march and had heard nothing. Any suggestions?

My D auditioned March 24th and has heard nothing. Should I call or email. I know the singing/monologue auditioner well.

I emailed and called and no one responded. My D auditioned before yours. At this point does not matter, she received the financial aid package and has had a better offer. Not sure why she was getting aid package prior to finding out if she was admitted into her program!

rglick and attittash...are you talking about Pace or Montclair?

My daughter is on the waitlist for the MT program at Pace but yesterday we received a letter inviting her to be in the Theater arts BA program with an emphasis in acting. We have strayed away from BA vs Bfa because she likes a lot of hands on studio work vs too much class room. Does anyone know if a BA Theater Arts major at Pace can take a lot of voice and dance electives?

Lisa G. You may want to post your question on the Pace board at the top of the MT page. Or Even post it in the drama colleges part 10 list in arts majors.

OOOPS! Thanks

When my D and I were at Montclair last Wednesday, they said they had so many applicants that they were scheduling another audition date. They are not really prompt about official notification. I have said this before and I will repeat - I have always been able to find out information by calling Clay James directly - that is the only thing that works. He does answer his phone, or he WILL call you back. 973-655-7341.

Good luck - my D loves it there and it will probably her choice. We will know soon!

dancermom...do you mean another audition for those that already auditioned? because over the phone we were told that my d was recommended from her audition on March 20th for the dance Bfa but they could not send a letter of acceptance till they got her senior grades which are not great but I am sending this week....fingers crossed!
