I will be majoring in Accounting. I can get a full tuition waiver at NJIT because I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at my Community College. I will have an Associates degree when I transfer. Where would I have a better social life? Also would it be worth paying for MSU if I can get a full tuition waiver at NJIT?
No. It’s no worth going to Montclair. It’s a worse school academically(although it is a good school & they’re near evenly matched for business) & it’s not worth the extra money when you have a free ride at NJIT.
Montclair Pros:
More Students
More Majors
More balanced gender ratio(Montclair is close to 50/50 male/female wheras NJIT is 80/20 male/female)
Montclair is a great large suburan campus town, better than a high crime area like Newark
NJIT Pros
Better Academics
Better for STEM
Full Tuition
Diverse Student Body
Interactivity with Rutgers Newark(The Rutgers Business School is better than NJIT’s so you can take business classes there, & interact with Rutgers Newark students)
Newark is a great area for Business
Social life is better at Montclair I’d say due to the better gender ratio, campus location, & campus feel. Although NJIT is no slouch: It has many extracurricular activities, has D2 sports(baseball at NJIT is D1)(whereas MSU is D3), study abroad & campus activities & is close to NYC also.
Montclair and NJIT are equal academically, actually. NJIT is D1 in sports. Montclair is far better for social life and is in a much safer and nicer area. It’s all down to your personal preference.
Montclair is better for social life.
Montclair is a very diverse school, not sure why that was only listed as a pro for NJIT.
I would choose Montclair, if it’s affordable. I’ve visited, & I really enjoyed it. If it’s unaffordable, choose NJIT.
For accounting they’re equal, so I’d say it comes down to preference. Montclair has a better guy/girl ratio & area. However NJIT has interaction with schools around it(Rutgers Newark) & better value.
