Moore College of Art and Design

Hello Everyone,
I have searched the site and have not found any threads asking questions about MCAAD (Moore College)
I was wondering if anyone could give me any information, experiences, or opinions regarding the school, as I am thinking about applying here (my college list is still quite small, and growing, as I am only a Junior.)

Any answers would be much appreciated!

means you are a girl and spend your college years at girls’ school?
That’s why my kid can’t go even he wanted to.
Location is great, in Museum loop, center of Philly. It looked nice and compact from outside. Did not see inside.

When we looked at that we decided it wasn’t particularly academically rigorous or challenging and that there were better fits for the kid out there. Our thinking about whole art school thing (and we the parents would have much preferred she go into engineering) was that it was probably best to get into the highest quality school possible in order to maximize (questionable, we know) employment opportunities after college. Too bad because women in science and engineering have lots and lots of scholarships available.

Oh well. My own parents discouraged me from pursuing anything in college that wouldn’t be “profitable” (in their eyes) when college was over. I was determined not to do that to my own kid. So she can go be a nerdy art kid and we’ll hope for the best.

We saw the adcom rep at NPD, and while we really liked her, D might have been interested if it wasn’t an all-girls school. Not for the reason you might think - she has a lot of guy friends (but only one “boyfriend”), and she says some of them do amazing art and have different points of view than a lot of her female art friends. Said she didn’t want to miss out on that male point of view on college.

Going to art school is like going to girls school anyway. Knock out the cute gay boys and you have about a 1 to 30 ratio.

^especially (or maybe only) @certain high caliber artschool in NE that filled with beautiful people.

^B and D
GRRRRrrrrr!!! Hahaaaa Thank god for Brown anyway. She loves the nerdy guys. (her dad is a total geek)

^ if only all those nerdy guys aren’t going for polished head to toe bland named atair pocketbook clear skinned doe eyed elfin looking darn skinny yet somehow have enough firm boobs plus book/math brained certain racial/ socio economic ranged Brown girls and enuff are reft for needs from the next door.

^^^Bears, I didn’t understand half of it, but that was a GREAT sentence. We could all see that boring, pretty girl.

someone please teach me proper english !!!

brand name, such as LV Coach, not bland
leftover boys, not reft
not nessesary doe eyed
nor elfin but you know that type.

Dang, bears, you’re describing my kid…
sad, so sad… I think.

Gmom you should be happy (in some way)
Friend of mine’s D was the one went to Brown had suitors can’t count with her and her mom’s fingers and toes (some are RISD boys) she now lives post grad Providence with colony of them.
Just prepare never too see her again, she’d come to hometown in the car driven by “bad one (from your standard)” to visit friends or fav haunts without telling you all the while you are the one fueling her $ account.
