Hi there, I've been assigned to live in the Moore Hill residence hall. I've only ever stayed in Jester -both west and east - before (honors colloquium and orientation) so I don't know much about it. I know the rooms are basically like Jester's only newer but w/o the sink/vanity area (and the smell). Oh and that the beds are bunkable, haha.

What I don't know is:
-what furniture is not provided that I may need? (I looked at some pics online and I couldn't tell if there was a mirror anywhere in the room, a desk chair, a bulletin board, or a towel rack.) Basically, what would you suggest we bring/buy on our own?
-how many people (or rooms, I suppose) are assigned to one comm. bathroom? How many sinks/shower stalls in each bathroom? And do the shower stalls have a little sectioned off area with a bench to put clothing/towels/etc like Jester East does? Also if anyone has any links to pictures of the bathrooms, that'd be great.

Any other general info on the dorm would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks in advance to any responses :D

I suggest you bring condoms…

no but on a serious note: You got a Bevo Bulletin (has a pic of Texas Band playing on cover) and on pg. 57 or so there’s a list of things you should bring. It leaves some stuff out and lists some things you wont need. As for furniture, you should take some plastic sorting cabinets, a computer chair, and maybe even a small sofa… call your roomate up and see what he/she is bringing so you all won’t bring too much… and i think about 12 rooms or so share one bath room…oh and don’t forget some sandals for showering…you’ll never get rid fungus on your feet…eeehhh

12 rooms? Isn’t it a whole lot less in Jester? Like… 5 or 6 rooms? That’s what I thought I saw at orientation. I didn’t actually stay on campus (hotel) but I did go into a lot of the rooms.

seeing that moore-hill is one of the smaller dorms on-campus, i would think that less rooms share each bathroom.

Actually it’s one of the larger ones, of the smaller ones.

MH is 386

Brackenridge, Prather, Robers, and Simkins are all ~150 or less.

It’s no Duren, San Jac, or Jester, though.

well that’s what i was told “24” people, so i assumed 12 rooms…don’t take my word for it though, it’s just hear-say… by the way i posted a thread that no body responded to so i’ll ask here… are the floors of each dorm seperated by sex? (i.e. 1st floor boys. 2nd girls, 3rd boys) as it was in orientation?

Depending on the dorm, it can be by floor or just room-by-room. I remember reading this on the UT website but it didn’t give specifics for each dorm.

Okay thanks for all the help guys!
BTW, the uni provides a chair for desk regardless of the dorm right?

And I heard the same as Why Two Kay. The only dorm I know for sure is split by floors is Jester.

Yes, a desk chair is provided.

hello fellow dorm mates. haha i’m in moore-hill as well. i believe i’m on 2nd floor. the actual 2nd floor i think.

scitalian-- at least you’ll have an easy time during move-in.

12 rooms per bathroom…wow, this shall be interesting.

Okay so I found out one of my upperclassmen friends lived at Moore Hill her first year too, so I just got all my answers from her, haha :D

Thanks for the help guys, but I believe this thread is no longer needed. See ya when school starts ;D

PS:
@kaygar09 - I’m on the second floor too!
