Mopeds on Campus?

Are students allowed to have mopeds on campus?

It seems like a less expensive alternative to a car. Not a real motorcycle- just something that goes 40 mph and can travel a farther distance comfortably than a traditional bike.

I imagine one would still need a parking space, and of course a helmet!!
Thanks!

Yes they do! My son bought one early on last year. It was great because it gave him freedom to get to stores and easily get around campus. For anyone who gets one, also be sure to get the strongest lock there is. My son didn’t and his was stolen one night along with another one; the thieves were unsuccessful cutting through a third lock because it was too strong. Luckily the stolen scooters were found by the police a few days later. He and his roommate took theirs to a storage facility and kept them there over winter break.

Yep! They’re pretty popular around campus and there are special areas where people keep them on campus.

It’s only $45 a year and the parking is more convenient for a lot of students. [USC Vehicle Management & Parking Services](<a href=“Parking - Parking and Transportation Services | University of South Carolina”>Parking - Parking and Transportation Services | University of South Carolina)

The moped was purchased this weekend, a gift from grandma :)

The place we got it from said that they would store it over winter and summer break for us for a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the info! :)
