I’m wondering how long ago this happened, and if all information has been through another party.
I would have a counselor help me craft a letter to his parents, and send it registered mail.
That also might help with documenting his status as an independent student.
Op, it sounds like you have extended family in the States? Are they nearby? Can they help you at all?
Be honest with everyone because it is the right thing to do.
Your parents were not honest when they arrived here illegally, please don’t use their example to live your life.
Just wanted to add that I am so sorry your parents cannot accept you for who you are. It is hard for me to comprehend this. You have gotten some good advice here and I hope it works for you at the financial aid office. My only advice is to get out of your room as much as possible and make new connections. If you feel depression creeping in, call 911 and get help. If things don’t work out at this college, don’t give up. You can always work, take a few classes at night, save money, etc. Your education may take longer, but it is not a contest, but a journey.
