just saying that if you are going to use them, might as well not put spaces in between the letters

wbow - that's lame as hell. cheating on a ten point assignment??? that's such a small mistake, and you feel fine failing them in the class for it? i dont think id be able to sleep at night if i were you. thats the lamest b u l l s h i t ive ever heard. go kill yourself. thanks.

I don't see what is so lame about it. It's called justice. Someone makes it obvious to the professor/teacher that they cheated, then tough luck for them. After all, most schools emphasize their academic integrity statements and a professor or teacher has every right to fail a student if it is very obvious to them that the student cheated.

elizabeth - if i dont use spaces in my dirty words they are automatically sensored out. they end up looking like this: XXXX

wbow - ya, in your first post you never said anything about it being the second time caught cheating. ya, maybe second time it's okay to fail them, but first time, i dont think so. you also said nothing about it being an exam. you specifically said you would fail them if they cheated on a 10 point assignment...? by the way, my argument was made for high school cheating only, im not sure if u teach h.s. or college students...

adconard - being failed in a class because you copy a 10 point assignment is justice??????? i suppose we have different definitions of justice. ahahah the tough luck thing kills me. how old are you, 85?

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LIGHTEN UP. THERE'S MORE TO LIFE THAN DOING YOUR HOMEWORK.

HoldenMCaulfield: CC kids don't "lighten up". Academia is life. Why are you here?

Yes, that is justice. Justice is obedience. Be disobeyful all you want, but in an environment where rules have been established regarding cheating before you even came to class the first day, don't be surprised if you get shafted for even a copied 10 point homework assignment. C'est la vie...

adconard - i cant argue with you any longer. youre hopeless. by the way, you never answered my question. i think you really are 85 years old. go do you hw grandpa.

"academia is life", god what a waste. i genuinely feel sorry for people like you. seriously.

Even sarcasm is wasted on you.

my point is that i don't care about the point value of the assignment. if you cheat and get caught you pay the consequences--regardless of how many points are involved.

in fact, the more simple the assignment, the more angry i am that someone cheats on it!

if a person thinks it's ok to cheat because it seems insignificant, that says a lot about their lack of ethics. cheating is cheating. big or small. a cheat's a cheat!

im here cuz i know the best of both worlds: academia and the real one. im here to attempt to make you fools lighten up, because i know how much you could benefit from it. however, dont listen. im sure when youre 80 years old and looking back at your life that was consumed with books, academics, and studying you will be overjoyed and not regret just f u c k i n g the studying and hangin out sippin brews with friends. ha, "academia is life", god what a waste. i genuinely feel sorry for people like you. seriously.
[/quote]

You can do homework and "sip brews with friends" if you make time for it all. It's about time management. So this does not concern lifestyles but rather ethics.

Wow what a negative approach you have. You obviosuely see the good in goofing off, yet you think rotting your kidneys and liver slowly is a better hobby then learning. Hasn't anyone ever suggested to you, that you can do both just as easily without ever sacrificing one or the other.

hi
no one in life is going to ask you for your high school transcript
and no one i know has done anything related to their college degree in real life.

so cheating to me really isn't that big of a deal
chances are, the class won't really have that big of an impact on your life. hey, maybe it will, but would you really cheat in a class that meant so much to you?

take, for example, my AP calculus class.

i had bronchitis for a week and was at home coughing. sleeping. it felt like i was dying (exaggeration?). the point was, i wasn't really coherant for a week.

i come back and my calc teacher hands me a worksheet and says: hey, learn this. it's due tomorrow!

he left it up to me to learn. this was while i was working on a research paper and had make-up work from 6 other classes. hey, buddy. i don't have the time.

so i copied. no, it wasn't the only time. but i don't think it was unethical.

besides, the worksheets were our study guides for the tests, basically. if i didn't learn it then or ever, i would have made a lower grade on the test. "the ends justify the means" (or so says the first poster/machiavelli).

"Hasn't anyone ever suggested to you, that you can do both just as easily without ever sacrificing one or the other."

I SAID I KNOW THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. WHERE DID I EVER SAY I SACRIFICE ONE OR THE OTHER. DESPITE MY ARGUEMENTS I HARDLY EVERY COPY AN ASSIGNMENT. I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET I HAVE JUST ABOUT AS GOOD OF GRADES AS ANY OF YOU GUYS, WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY HAVING 100 TIMES MORE FUN IN MY LIFE. SO, YA, YOU PROVED MY POINT...

"You can do homework and "sip brews with friends" if you make time for it all."

I KNOW, I HAPPEN TO DO BOTH VERY OFTEN, AND VERY WELL. MY POINT IS CC KIDS DONT SEE NEARLY ENOUGH OF THE LATTER.

thisyearsgirl - i wasnt being sarcastic in the least bit. i honestly do feel sorry for people (maybe like you, im not sure) who have rather distorted views on the purpose of their life: to study as much as possible in an attempt to create the most impressive transcript.im not saying this is necessarily you, but i know a lot of CC kids fit this description, and i really do find it sad.

Wow. This is getting intense.

(PS, Holden - We know you aren't being sarcastic.)

ha, right, intense. arguing with a bunch of intellectuals on a somewhat nerdy college website is intense...

knavish - if youll read up a ways youll see thisyearsgirl said "Even sarcasm is wasted on you". so no, i dont think everyone is/was aware that i am being serious.

What the hell? Do you just not catch sarcasm or what? Never mind.

apparently not, which part of your post were you being sarcastic about? if it was the first part, i dont think it was very clear: there are so many nerds posting on this site and many of them WOULD in fact find this argument to be the most intense thing of all time. and im not really sure how the second part of your post could be sarcastic, seeing as how i AM being serious...? god you must be so smart.

O.k. I would not get an assignment and just decide I wasnt gonna do it and was going to cheat instead. However, if i forgot to do an assignment or didnt get it, yes I would probably copy a friends paper but I would also ask them to explain it to me, because I dont want to be screwed on the test. And this is bad but sometimes on tests I do just y'know see the answer on another persons paper and I'll write it down if im stuck haha. but that doesnt often happen. But if the answers there..right there! its so hard to resisttt..however i study study and ask lots of questions so I;m usually good on exams.

I know you are serious. It's actually kind of sad.

CC kids don't "lighten up". Academia is life. Why are you here?
I WAS SARCASTIC, DAMN IT. ME. NOT YOU.

clear?

I don't know about your schools, but by senior year, everyone at mine has smoked weed at least once, cheated on at least one thing per class per day, and gotten caught in the back stairwell ;). Yes, even the nerdiest of the nerds.

much as I enjoyed reading this thread, there is no single answer to the damn moral question so stop the insulting and mocking
