Class nearly 6000--about 400 overenrolled as yield keeps going up. Lots of good numbers info.

Some good numbers jumped out on me:

The admit rate is now fairly consistent (~56%) for all US domestic students, regardless of residency status.

~20% of freshmen class are now "first generation" college students!

~19% of freshmen class are minority and international students (compared to ~11% a decade ago)

You can have all sorts of fun with these statistics. Legacy/first generation rates et al. Minority rates- do they reflect changes in demographics, recruitment...? It would be interesting to know where the admitted students who chose elsewhere went, and why. The caliber of applicants, admitted and enrolled students- with any trends- would be interesting to know (eg test scores and grades). This data tells about the demographics, I want the rest of the picture... Thanks for the info.

Indeed. As far as I know, legacy freshmen have been hovering around 15% for the last two decades or so. Increasing minority students are likely the result of targeted recruiting on a few states like Texas.

I don't keep track of the year-to-year data. I think the quality, in terms of standardized test scores, class ranks etc, has been inching upward for the last 15 years. Put it differently, some of my class would face a much harder time getting in given current admission standard!!
