More Challenging Major - Finance or Accounting?

At UF, what is deemed a more challenging major - Finance or Accounting? D is a first semester Sophomore and is on track for both.

Are the 3 additional Finance classes after FIN3403 significantly harder than FIN3403? How are they in comparison to the 6 Accounting major classes?

Can’t comment on the specific finance class questions but Accounting is definitely deemed the more intense major here.

bump bump bump

I am pretty sure accounting is considered harder.

It comes down to interests though. Accounting majors learn different things than finance majors, and a topic someone is interested in = easier.

Accounting is the premier business degree at UF, hands down

Accounting id more challenging, but do whichever interests her the most.

You also have to remember accounting majors can get finance jobs but typically finance majors can’t get accounting jobs. More flexibility with accounting major, plus you can always take the finance courses as electives.

That’s very true. I was Accounting and DH was Finance. Throughout our careers, opportunities have always been more available on the Accounting side and I am not a CPA - always worked in private.

D did change from Finance to Accounting. Hoping BP 1 & 2 don’t kill her in Spring.

would a math minor along with an acctng major be beneficial in the short or long term. Even though one would plan on getting a Macc, I figure something quantitative as a minor would still be useful.

a math minor will help anybody no matter what their major is long term and short term.
