Doing schedule tonight and there is no way to fit chem in. CBH, Calc, Intro to ME, one of them throws a wrench in it. With Alabama Action, only have 13 credits. Don’t want to fall too far behind. Have plenty of room for another class. Already have two honors classes scheduled. Any suggestions?

Willing to do 8 am, even honors chem, can’t fit it in.

Looks like it will have to be chem in the summer, unless other sessions open up.

I don’t think other sessions will open, instead just more seats in existing. They’re are over 200 seats in existing gen chem classes that will be available.

He could take a FA class that fulfill a Core Req’t unless all of below are filled from AP classes…

9 semester hours of humanities (HU), literature (L) and fine arts (FA) area courses. A 6-hour discipline depth study is required and may be taken in either HU, L, and FA or HI and SB. There are no mandatory general education requirements for literature or fine arts, except as required for a specific engineering program.

Of course, if your son takes Gen Chem over the summer, you won’t have to worry about him falling behind.

Looks like we may have all of the history covered. Got AP credit for American History and probably civics, just took that test. Also have three hours for a college statistics course last summer, don’t know how it will count, designated as a psychology course. Probably will need some humanities credits.

Want to make sure about CBH counting towards the three hours honors course necessary to remain in good standing in honors for priority registration next year.

Yes, the CBH class counts. Any honors 3 credit class counts…no matter if it’s UHP, CBH, IHP or a dept major honors course.

my son was at the may 27-28 session. I just added a weight training class to his schedule and it was no problem. Maybe they will close the classes before the next session begins but right now it seems to be open for changes.

^^^

If the intention is to keep past BBers from snapping up spots before the current BBers can select, then it would make sense that the May 27-28 BBers will get restricted sometime before Wednesday morning. Because that’s when the new seats open up.

But, who knows. This is the first year that Bama has said that they are doing this. Who knows if they will be able.

Some have asked if more sections will open. That generally only happens if all seats fill and there is still a big demand for the class. Instead, right now, they’re just adding the seats to existing sections. That makes sense because it wouldn’t be fair to the past BBers if new sections/times were intentionally opened later.

I think someone was talking about not taking CH101 this semester. I don’t know much about ME, but I can tell you that there are fewer sections of CH101 in the Spring semester than in the Fall.

True that there will be less CH101 sections in the spring because there will be more CH102 sections then.

When a student is in CBH and isn’t using his AP credits to skip Cal, Frosh Comp, or other such classes, it can get hard to fit everything in. With CBH, there is almost an assumption that kids are going to use their AP credits so they can fit it all in.

I’m lost. S thought of taking Hon. Chem (get one of his honors done) but looking at the options, there are 0 seats left. Does anyone know whether or not there are seats held back for later BB thus it’s 0? Have alternatives but I’m wondering if there’s any chance at all.

For now, take the alternative so that you have something.

Then, email the honors prof and ask for an over-ride to get into the class. Provide your CWID.

However, if the class is filled to fire code, then you’ll have to wait and see if a spot opens.

We’ll set up his schedule according to what’s open and if something opens or prof okays (is this something his advisor can check with him while they meet?) — guess we can do the switch if his schedule doesn’t have to be totally redone. He’s so easygoing that he’d just adapt his “plan” and get honors later.

I don’t think an advisor will make the request. We’ve always had to send the email to the prof with the request.

Will send an e-mail as suggested.

Socal2bama:
I went to orientation May 27-28. During class registration, several of us in engineering wanted to take Honors Chem. However, all the seats were full when we first logged in. We were able to talk to the advisers in charge, and they called someone and got an override for us on the spot :)

Hopefully they can squeeze one more in, although we don’t come in until the 16th, so probably a slim chance. Does anyone know if we’d have to wait until we’re going to get okay or an early request allowed? Should we contact professor or Chem Dept.?

I don’t see anything wrong with being a bit pro-active and contacting the prof now. Be sure to include the CWID.
