More Dorm Questions for current students

Yes, I'm back, because I have questions.

1) Which dorm has the omelette chef? (Highly important)
2) How do dorm assignments work for frosh? Do they send us stuff and we get to list a specific dorm preference or do we just get to put "all frosh" or "ethnic" and get lucky if we get the specific dorm we want? Can you describe the process?
3) What is SLE? Is this the only frosh structured education program at Stanford or do other houses have such forms of torture?
4) As for a bit about me, I want a relatively quiet dorm and one of those roommates who you're not sure whether or not she's still alive because she sleeps 14-hours a day. (Seriously - I have noise issues. My nearest neighbors are 1/2 a mile away.) I also put a high value on good food and refuse to stay somewhere without it. And I'm semi-nerdy. Where do you think I would fit in best?

so, i'm going to bump this thread even though it's two years old. i like omelettes. ;) also, do you think you guys could help create a comprehensive list of the pros and cons of each dorm?

hahahahahahaha. i think it's also important to determine which dorms are stinkier than the rest. =)

Lagunita Court is radically rad! Eucalipto represent!

It doesn't really matter for current students, as they don't get to choose which dorms they're in. The only ones that profros should worry about are Flomo (SLE) and Frosoco.

Yup. Incoming freshmen can rank their preferences for all-frosh or four-class and the special dorms (Frosoco, theme dorms) - I think that for the special dorms, you have to write a blurb about why you want to live there. Don't really remember =X

Multiple dorms have omelette chefs =] Stern does omelettes every weekend; I know Wilbur has had that in the past (haven't visited this year); Manzanita has omelettes every now and then.

As for the roommate issue, you'll get a chance to fill in a survey about yourself with info such as when you go to bed, how messy you are, and you can write a general mini essay about who you are, and what your concerns and hopes are. This could be a good time to talk about noise. The people who assign roommates usually do a good job =] if there is a big problem, then you can ask to be reassigned, but this does not happen often.

Where do the FloMo people eat?

^They have their own dining hall

Is it called FloMo? Is it good? :)

FloMo is pretty good (I personally like their food). It is however half sle but I don't know if that makes much of a difference. You don't find much dorm spirit there thu...
The rooms are ok and overall it's not bad at all.

I actually don't like FloMo food all that much, but it kind of depends on the day. I think Stern is pretty good in general. Also keep in mind that some cafetarias close on the weekend, scattering their residences throughout campus to find an open one (with your meal plan you can eat at any dinning hall). I'm not sure which ones close, but I know FloMo is one. I'm pretty sure Branner closes too. Stern is always open :)

I think Stern, Wilbur, and Lag are the only ones open for every meal. FloMo and FroSoCo are a minute or two a way from Lag by bike, and Branner is across the street from Wilbur. Roble shares a dining hall with Lag.
