- Does submitting housing applications early increase your chances of getting the place you want?
- Which dorm are/were you in and what was your experience there? I'm in engineering, so I'd prefer a quiet study environment like Foothill/Stern. In case I don't get in either, however, what should I put as my backups? I'm mainly concerned about parties/alcohol/drugs. I tried doing some research, but obviously Berkeley isn't going to talk about illegal substances on their official website, and I've been getting mixed answers about the South Side dorms. Some people had awful experiences; others said that they had lots of friends and never ran into any druggies. Anyway, please help me rank my dorms from best (least drugs, etc.) to worst.
http://housing2.berkeley.edu/unit1 indicates that Freeborn Hall in Unit 1 is designated as a substance free environment.
There may be some buildings at Clark Kerr which are designated as “quiet environment”. Check with the housing office to see if this is currently the case.
