I was just reading an article in the Orlando Sentinel which mentioned many of the state universities are also considering technology fees and "green" fees. Has anybody heard if FSU has any immediate plans beyond the increases we already know about?
5% tuition increase
40% tuition differential fee
there already exists a transportation fee $6.50 per credit
students are required to pay for health insurance if they don't already have it

Its a 5% technology fee-(5% of tuition) that will be new, in addition to tuition and the local fees. It was passed by the legislature and goes to the governor. Student representatives and student government reps at various campuses that were asked about it as input during the legislative review were all strongly in favor of it, acually. It will be a separate fee, not covered by Florida Prepaid, and I do not know about Bright Futures. FL Prepaid has said that if signed, they will set up a separate acccount so that it can be "prepaid" like the local fees, but will be too late for our kids.

It's likely FSU will ask for the recycling fee. Seems like when one does it they all do - with the exception of the differential tuition, then the schools are limited to those that qualify.

Even if they impose all these fees FSU and UF are still probably the least expensive flagship universities in the U.S. They're still a good deal.
