More finanacial Aid stuff...i know...i know..

Ok at the risk of being rudundant. I just want to know if there was anyone who got as screwed over as I did. my EFC was $25k and then NYU has asked me to pay $42k. That is quite a jump. And more usefully ( and i am aware that it is most likely that someone has already asked this, but I really have to much of a headache from all this crap to go sifting through threads. So if you have the kindness in your heart to just answer it again, i would truly appreciate it) is there a way to lower that number?

This might be directed towards people who have already gone through it as opposed to who are going through it. And if there isn't, is it worth getting myself into roughly $200k in debt to hopefully pay it off as an actor? I mean, i realize it's kind of a judgment call, but it would be nice to have a little reasuring.

btw congrats to everyone who got in, i hope i'll see you there in the fall.

You will have to appeal to the Financial Aid office. You can also apply for scholarships like I did, which paid my tuition entirely, although I need a couple of them to do so.

I recently called and appealed for more money. The woman I spoke with said that she has never seen NYU give more than 5k extra in appeals. I hope that helps. (I got into both NYU and JHU. I have always wanted to go to NYU [both of my parents went there for free back in the day] but JHU recently ended up giving me 6k more than NYU)

my EFC is 88k, appeal wouldnt have work for me. but merit/non-merit with financial need scholarships did.
