  1. I believe there's a type in there somewhere, either there is no "he" or there is a comma. Because of this, I can't exactly say, but I'll ask you this. If it could be C, why couldn't it be A?
  2. C is succinct, where as D is wordy.
  3. I believe "to" would invalidate C. "for" would invalidate B, as the stories are not for the poor. A and D are wordy.
