More headaches with scheduling

Hi all! I have a scheduling problem (again!) - help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm currently a freshman (sophomore standing), waitlisted in both Anthro 7 and Anthro 9. However, I cannot take both classes, so I have to choose between 7 or 9 (I'm an Anthro major so I'll take them both eventually).

I have a chance to get a PTE number for Anthro 7 if I enroll into the Honors section. PROBLEM: Anthro 7's lecture time conflicts with my Chemistry discussion. Is it easy to switch discussions?

Because of the above time conflict, I'd rather take Anthro 9...but since I'm only on the waitlist, there is a possibility that I might not make it into the class at all. So I guess my biggest question here is if it's easier to get off the waitlist for Anthro 9, or if it's easier to switch discussion sections for Chem 14B?

Thanks in advance! =]

How does Chemistry 14B look now? Some kids will have failed 14A and will be unable to take 14B. There's also always the drop factor. Who's your professor? Email them.

Are you a pre-med anthropology major?

What are Anthropology 7 and 9 looking like right now in terms of waitlists? I'd check their course offerings from Fall 2007 and Spring 2007 to see how frequently they're offered.

Are you in the honors program as well or are you just looking to get into a section?

Thanks for your help! Yes, I am a pre-med anthro major. There are quite a few more waitlisted spots in my Chem 14B class now, so I guess if I decide to go with Anthro 7, I should just walk into one of these waitlisted sections.

I will definitely follow your advice and check out the course offerings; I'm actually not too sure myself how frequently they are offered. I really wanted to take Anthro 9 this quarter though; I hear the professor is really good, and he only teaches in Winter!

I am in the honors program, so I was hoping to get some credit with this section. But I emailed the professor and it looks like you have to take both the regular discussion and the honors section.

I don't know what to do now...I guess my only option is to just keep checking the classes and wait?

Yes, certainly just wait. If you're paranoid, have two classes with overlapping time slots enrolled. After that, pledge for more units through Campbell or Murphy Hall and add on the course that did not conflict. From there, discard the class that you CANNOT enroll in. Yes, and wait.

At least as a pre-med anthropology major, you don't have to completely rush to finish off your science classes... as opposed to a normal biology major.
