<p>Professor James Van Cleve of the Dornsife School of LAS has been named a National Humanities Center Fellow. Only 32 scholars were selected this year for the honor. He will spend the next 12 months at the National Humanities Center in North Carolina.</p>
<p>The Materials Research Society has honored Terence Langdon of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. Professsor Langdon is the William Leonard Professor of Engineering and is one of the most cited authors in materials science. At the spring meeting in San Francisco Langdon was elected a Fellow of the Materials Research Society.</p>
<p>The Society for Social Work and Research gave the 2011 Excellence in Research Award to USC School of Social Work Professor Ron Astor. He has been studying violence in Israel schools. Astor is the USC's Richard Thor Professor of Urban Social Development.</p>
