More Honors Program Info?

Hey everyone!

I’m really excited to have been accepted into the MCAS honors program, but I can’t seem to find a ton of in-depth information about it. I’ve looked on the website and previous CC threads, but there are still some things I’d like to know. I know that that the program covers some of the core requirements, but does anyone know which specific requirements it covers and does not cover? Also, does anyone know if honors housing is guaranteed for all freshmen in the honors program?

Thanks so much for any help

Your freshman and sophomore years Honors class fulfills the BC core requirements in literature, writing, philosophy, theology, and social science. You still need arts, cultural diversity, history (x2), math, and natural science (x2) but those can be fulfilled through AP credit.

Yes, honors housing is guaranteed to all honors freshmen but you still have to “apply” with a simple short essay. Usually there’s a deficiency in people who apply so some rooms in Medeiros are opened to non-Honors people. I absolutely recommend living in Honors Housing freshman year because you develop very close bonds with all 30-some people in your Med Tower while still making friends outside Medeiros and Honors. Sophomore year you can live in 66 Commonwealth Ave and Junior year you can live in Gabelli. Senior year you can live in Gabelli as well but I believe people are working on Honors Seniors being guaranteed to live in the new dorms (2150 Commonwealth) but that’s just gossip for now. After freshman year, living in honors is not as important because you’ll make so many friends through Medeiros, your honors class, and other classes/activities who will not live in 66 and you may want to live with them. Personally, I chose to live in Medeiros because it’s guaranteed Upper and honestly I’m extremely glad I did for several reasons.
