Mom2, I believe the construction across from Riverside East will be the NOAA Water Center.

That’s the name I was trying to think of. Thanks.

The Riverside Parking Deck is being built in the western half of the Riverside surface lot. It should be done by this fall.

Students have been creative with parking in that area since the beginning of the spring semester. It is a similar situation to when Presidential Village 1 was bring constructed and Rose Towers lost the large parking lot to the east where PV 1 is now.

Here is design for the National Water Center that is being constructed to the south of the parking deck.

My d is trying to decide between Presidential and Lakeside dorms
Where is the parking for Presidential - is there a parking deck- how difficult is parking?
where is the closest dinning facility for Presidential?
What is the difference between Lakeside and Presidential dorms? Pro and cons of both

Good morning!
I’m going to chime in on several different issues to clarify a few things I’ve seen in the thread above.

The dome structure is the new NOAA Water Center. There is construction going on right behind it, where they are building the parking deck.

Honors Housing: we can’t anticipiate exactly what the demand for Honors Housing will be, but based on previous years, all Honors students who requested to live in Honors Housing were able to find a space.

For those who applied after Jan. 1: The application changed to allow students to prioritize kinds of housing, i.e. Honors Housing, suite style, traditional, apartment. They are also given the opportunity to mark a specific roommate preference. Students will be assigned to a space that fits their requests, as space permits.

We are not asking “personality” or behavior questions to match students based on fit. In order to find someone that fits based on these characteristics, please make use of the Roommate Finder.

To find a proxy code: Go to housing.ua.edu. Under the video, there’s a red house, which is the icon for MyHousing. Click it and log into MyHousing using the same info as you would to log in to MyBama. Review your housing application, and it should be at the bottom of the screen. Tip: copy and paste the code directly into an email for your desired roommate so that there’s less chance of miscommunication during room selection.

Also, yes, students who apply after Jan. 1 will receive a proxy code so that they could be pulled in by a student who applied last semester. Keep in mind though that the proxy code will only be useful during online room selection times, so anyone who applies after that may not be able to take advantage of it.

Hope this helps!
Janine Gascoigne

Thanks Janine! That clarified a lot!
