Hi I'm in my Sophomore year currently and I was wondering if mostly working in the lab with a single professor doing Biochemistry research is good enough to trump not having as many internships during the summer. I would probably only be able to do at least one summer internship but mostly, I have been accepted into a lab with a professor that I knew prior to the acceptance and plan to stay there contributing to her research for the next 3 years.

My question is, will having only one research internship but working in a single lab for a full 3 years be worst than if I had more external internships for during the summer months.

No, staying in a single lab, and potentially making a significant contribution to a small number of research projects, is generally considered preferable to having multiple superficial experiences where your contribution to any given project is likely to be much less.

Ok thanks for the answer mollie, the lab i’m working in is really going somewhere and I already see myself getting used to the work as well as making a difference with what I’m expected to do so I may do an internship, maybe one just for a different feel during one of my remaining summers but throughout the school year and the summer and winter breaks, I’ll be in the lab.
