more matches? lop-sided

after combing through my college list more times than i'd care to count, i've arrived at this (much shorter) one

though, i feel like it's lacking more match schools

help?

Pomona C
Rice U
Scripps C
Stanford U
U Central Florida
U Florida

-my stats are in my previous posts, but real quick 1/400, 4.0 uw, 8ish ap's, lots of dual enrolled classes by graduation, 5 on ap euro, 4 year varsity tennis, 4 year varsity swim, 3 year (all allowed) beta, nhs 4 year anchor club (community service), lots of church involvement, roughly 200+ volunteer hours, etc.

oh, and i'm a FL girl :]

*oh, and though i'm from FL, i'm not crazy about "the south" for college...i was born a yankee, and even though i love the warm weather and the beach i'm NOT a "southern belle" really...

What are you looking for in a school (other than location)? Your list so far is pretty wide-ranging... size, major, do you want to swim in college, etc.
And what are your test scores? Have you finished with SAT II's?

Going on the schools you have and pretty much by location alone: if you are looking at reaches of Pomona and Scripps, how about Oxy? Like Rice? How about WashU (reachy-match) or Trinity U? Like Stanford? How about Santa Clara as a very safe match?

size- i guess i'm up in the air about this one. i thought i wanted small, but i think i just want smaller classes/prof. interaction, not necessarily a small campus

major- i can't believe i forgot this one...i'm interested in sciences/pre-med

sports- sports participation would be nice, or at least some school spirit, but playing in college def. isn't a deal breaker or anything

test scores- i actually haven't taken any yet, but i'm signing up for the feb. ACT (for some reason my school is never really on top of this kind of thing since they're so busy shoving FCAT down our throats)
but when i took the PSAT last year i got 67 reading, 68 math, 69 writing

and $$ is a HUGGGGGGGGGGE factor in all of this (a big reason i have FL schools on there, because with bright futures we get full tuition minimum)

Do you need merit $$ or will you qualify for need-based or do you need both? Pomona gives no merit $$, I don't know about Scripps. In the Midwest, Oberlin and Grinnell give some merit $4 and are strong in sciences. Carleton is very strong in sciences too, but gives little for merit. All 3 are good with need-based, I believe.

That was supposed to be $$, not $4 in my post above.

^Fail, use the edit button.

As for the schools, there are good southern schools such as Duke or Vanderbilt.
As for financial aid, with your GPA and hopefully high test scores, there are thousands of scholarships available. I knew this girl, smart but lazy, less than steller grades, she applied to 200 scholarships regional and national scholarships, paid for her college and had money left over for living expenses, as in money she could do any thing with.

Shnead, This is the PARENTS forum. If you post here, we expect you to act like an adult, that includes not saying things such as “Fail”. If you look at the time on Bethievt’s post, you’ll see that she did not notice her typo until past the time she could have edited it.

I’m confused Coolziller, according to this post - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/680278-official-stanford-university-rd-decisions-class-2013-a.html#post1062181610</a> You were rejected from Stanford in March of this year and waitlisted at Brown.

It’s an old post somebody drug up for some reason.

And I infer that the colleges she lists here are just her matches or safeties.

Am I reading this wrong? Bovertine, if you click a person’s name you can see all of their posts. coolziller has two posts (that I saw) where she talks about results of applications this past Spring. I “dug it up” because I thought I would get more information about her from previous posts because she mentioned that in her op here. I’m not trying to be rude, I just don’t understand what’s going on.

The original note was from 2007. The “fail” post was today for some reason.

Ahhhh, yes. so the OP wrote in 2007 and Shnead just jumped in here yesterday - that explains everything!
