The sendoff ceremony was thrilling. I was so impressed with the school officials and happy that my son picked a small school, particularly one with such a strong sense of mission and campus community. When the new President was introduced the returning students immediately stood up to give him an ovation and the whole audience followed suit. It was a long, welcoming applause and he was clearly touched. I found it quite moving.

Thank you for posting this. It was a wonderful ceremony!! My daughter could not wipe the huge smile off her face all day and we left the campus knowing Grinnell was the perfect place for her.

I felt the college did an amazing job of reassuring parents and orienting students 3 years ago. It was so much easier to leave my son there than I’d expected it to be because it was clearly the right place for him and because it seemed to provide such a great balance of independence, self-governance and support if needed.

Yes, the sendoff ceremony was great. I was truly moved by the words about the enduring friendships that will be formed and the rare privilege of coming of age in such an amazing educational environment.
