Hey is it really worth joining the tap program? I'm a ccc and Im still debating on whether to join tap on the basis that my gpa might be lower then expected. Should I sacrifice a lower gpa? My schools that im considering

UCB
USC
UCLA
UCSD
UCSB

I'm looking into international relations. Any advice would be much appreciated. Most importantly if I were to have a high gpa and a few ec's, would that put me ahead of a tap applicant? Thanks

I've heard a number of different things on this issue. One thing for certain if you want to get into UCLA and you're a L & S major, you'd better do it. It makes a world-of-a-difference.

I've heard a number of different things as to how UCB looks at it. I've never heard anyone say it makes a huge difference and I've never heard anyone say it makes no difference. It's usually somewhere in between (mild/small/minor difference).

As for all the other UCs, if you're maintaining a 3.0 GPA (a requirement for TAP) then you already have a good shot at all of them.

I think the best answer would be, it is worth sacrificing your GPA.

I agree for UCLA, it does make a very, very big difference... This i got from numerous reps, and students from the TAP conference in NOV.... Depending on your CCC most scholars classes are not that bad... many courses are introductory courses... but check with other students in your college, the will have great recomendations on what courses you should take.... but do your research and see if it is something you are willing to do.... good luck

just a stat...
The transfer center at my college told me last semester that roughly 90 % of students in TAP were admitted to UCLA... no granted probably many of these students were already A students to begin with, but those are amazing stats none-theless...
