So, from the days June 19 until July 4th, I was cleared for orientation, which had been slated for July 22nd.

On July 4th, my balance of 0.00 suddenly jumped to 50 dollars(this is an electronic system). Some background for this would be this: I applied for deference early June and sent in my paperwork one week before I took my placement test(June 19th). The day I took it I immediately found the person who had been working deference. She looked up my name, it being cleared for both my HOUSING FEE and the NEW FRESHMAN FEE. The housing fee was 300 bucks, but reduced to 50 for deference. The new freshman fee was waived completely(235 dollars). These charges(the 250 from my housing fee, and the 234 from my new freshman fee) would come out of my financial aid package.

That same day I went up to their bursar office(as the woman who handled the paperwork directed me) and paid my 50 dollars towards MY HOUSING FEE. This fee was non-refundable, and needed for me to keep my sit and go into the housing lottery(random room assignments).

That very day I had a receipt that stated exactly 50 dollars was due at the time, and that I paid fifty, leaving my balance at 0.00.

Due to the deference coordinator needing to CONFIRM MY Payment, she watched closely to see that I paid, and wrote down next to my name (FEES PAID IN FULL). At that time she also signed me up for the earliest orientation for business majors(July 22nd). Even then I ASKED that if everything was good, and she said it indeed was. She claimed it was all sorted out as I took my test, since it pops up as soon as you start it.

THAT VERY SAME DAY I received an email that says I was signed up and ready for orientation. As most orientations, I assume, they told me what I needed to bring, what I would receive, and that I would be signing up for classes at this point.

AND THAT SAME DAY I logged onto my own account, it saying that I had owed 0.00 at the time.

I even got a postcard to sign up for orientation a couple days after, that stated with ease, that if I had already signed up for it, disregard the postcard.

Now it's July and all of their departments agree that deference WENT THROUGH, but something went wrong. The question with this stands here: Should I pay ANOTHER 50 dollars for a fee that was clearly paid, or fight for this to be fixed?
