More questions....

I have heard that Kenyon students are mostly rather liberal, but anyone except the conservative, religious type will fit in.

My question is, as a religious person, conservative in lifestyle but politically(so-to-speak) more of a liberal moderate, will I find kin at Kenyon? Does anybody know how active the religious community is?

Also, one of my main concerns about Kenyon is the lack of academic options. I am very undecided, and I'd like a wide variety of choices. How are most incoming freshmen in that respect? Do the majority know what major they're going after, or at least have a field, and if so, what is it? How are the academic/career counseling services? Are there any majors that it would be difficult to take up in your sophomore or junior year?

Thanks!

i cant really speak as to the religious/political issue, but as far as academic choices and freshmen, its been my experience on my visits that a pretty good number of freshmen are undecided on theyre major. I think Kenyon and liberal arts colleges in general are very open to and supportive of students who are undecided in their major or career path, and offer many resources for students to find their 'niche'.

Well, when I went on the tour a girl asked about Hillel and the Jewish community and the tour guide said there was one and pointed out the church and talked about it and that there were a quite a few different religious communities. I think it was episcopalian (sp?) and clergy founded the school. I think as long as you have an open mind and aren't judgemental or overbearing with your religious views you'll be ok.

Kenyon is very "liberal"...almost as far as the terms stretches out. That said, I have never seen religious intolerance in this part of the world, although I must admit that the "liberals" clearly outnumber the "conservatives". In terms of majors, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to major in, but I know that most people don't...a catchy freshman conversation goes something like this:

A: So, what's your major?
B: (laughing) I am a freshman.

Thanks everyone!
