I am in a dilemma regarding my SAT Subject Tests, so I decided to ask for some advice. I have already taken the Math Level 2 and Spanish tests and I scored perfectly on both of them, but I still feel kind of incomplete...call it even unsatisfied. I know I can score well (>700) on the Literature and Chem tests, yet I fear that colleges will think that I am an overambitious freak who seeks perfection stubbornly. I was thinking of taking them in October (right after the summer), but my parents are not really happy with my idea either, for they want me to rest a little bit and concentrate more on college application essays and IB in lieu of trying to prove to myself and the schools that I am good at something else as well. On the other hand, looking at my test record, I feel as if it is kind of incomplete...a language and a math. So if I add to it a science and a literature wouldn't it look even better? I am really torn, so please jot down some thoughts and tell me honestly what would you do in my case.

No, Spanish is NOT my mother-tongue. I had studied the language for only 2 years before I took the exam. :)

That’s exactly what I was thinking, but then again…shouldn’t I spend the time doing something more meaningful like writing college essays? :? And wouldn’t schools look at that taking as if I am excessively trying to prove how good I am?

Three would not seem excessive. Anyway, look up the policies of the schools you are applying to. If all are okay with a math and a language, then you’re good.

Many people take 4-5 SAT Subject Tests and score well on all of them. I myself plan to take 4 Subject Tests. It only shows colleges that you’re a versatile student on standardized tests (as opposed to taking classes taught by easy teachers and getting 100s).

So go ahead! Taking Math II, Chemistry, Spanish, and Literature is a really diverse platter of tests. Congrats!
