More schools to apply for a 3.4 GPA student?

Hello!

I have a 3.4 and an 1550 sat (all three)
my gpa is low because i had a rough freshman year but i have been receiving 3.8 gpa since then.
im a senior at an elite all-girls school in wilmington, de
i have done swimming for 4 yrs (national ymca team, high school states, etc)
i am in international club, spirit club and national art honor society

I applied to
1. Saint Joseph's University - accepted with 5,000 a yr scholarship
2. University of Delaware - accepted
3. Clemson University - denied
4. LaSalle University - 16,000 a year scholarship
5. Loyola College in Maryland - deferred
6. Auburn University
7. University of South Carolina - Columbia
8. Virginia Tech
9. University of Hartford - 5,000 a year scholarship
10. Roanoke College - 8,000 a year scholarship

However, I've been thinking and I'm not a big fan of any of the schools. SJU used to be my number one but I recently visited and hated it. I like DE but it's my instate school so I hoping to go somewhere new and exciting, (i only live 5 min away from ud).

Can someone help me out? Give me more schools that I would have a good shot at that I might like that are good schools.

Winthrop U in SC.

btw, ur SAT is what kills you for most of those.

I know:( I retook it twice but it just got worse! The second time I got sick and it was rough. those tests make me so nervous!

Did you try the ACT?

I did. 21:(

i can’t tell you how many long island kids want to get into U delaware. It is such a popular school with NY kids and hard to get into for NY kids. Now I can understand why you are not that excited as it is so close to home, but alot of kids would be envious of your predictament.

my kid had similar stats and is at a SUNY. She applied and was accepted to Temple, Towson, George Mason and a bunch of Suny’s. But personally I think U del is as good if not better school than the schools I listed.

maybe Goucher ?? also- we looked at but she didn’t apply- virginia commonwealth. Urban campus in Richmond. But they have a very good art dept and I noticed you’re in art honor society.

Let me tell you a little secret.
gpas only go so far into the mysterious college admissions.
while yes higher gpa means better chances there are so many good schools you can get accepted into.
It also depends on your EC’s and what you will give and bring to the college as an individual.
There was even a recent post about a girl who got accepted into Stanford with the same gpa as you.
So look at who you are and what you can provide for a college and what that college can do in return for your intersts and don’t let your gpa limit you.

Try University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa or at Huntsville.

I applied to Duke, Vandy, Colgate, Hamilton, Bucknell and Cornell. With a 3.4 GPA
(Also interesting about GPAs…the average GPA at Clemson is HIGHER than the average GPA at Princeton!) (3.8 compared to 3.9)
An outstanding GPA might be an indication of not challenging yourself enough in high school classes!
PLease CHANCE ME!! ANYONE!!
Thanks guys:)
And best of luck!

sammy09, I don’t really see you getting into Vandy, Duke, or Cornell without great test scores coupled with good ECs. If you attend a private school, then that’s another story. The others don’t seem out of reach if your test scores are around 1300 M+CR

well, you haven’t heard back from all your schools yet, but if you want to try something new & different, then I would suggest that Roanoke and USC might be decent options.
I think it’s kinda late to apply any others.

Check out High Point University. Its app deadline is March 14.

It’s past admission time for the majority of private and public colleges in the northeast and elsewhere. I am familiar with your high school and would recommend you compare your perspective major or interests to the strength of each college’s corresponding department.
College is what you make it, regardless of where you go. Good Luck.

Well, what is wrong with LaSalle? I think that you did very well there. I know someone who went there and loved it. I also no someone who went there and transferred out to a SUNY but that is bc he was not doing well in his classes.

Don’t know which dates have passed, but why not go for an SAT/ACT optional school? Google Fair Test. They list the test optional schools.

High Point, btw, was a good suggestion too.

La Salle is a joke in every respect.

Really? I know someone who went through their nursing program and that person worked very hard in that program. That was going back maybe 5-6 years ago.

They’re fine for nursing, although I dont think there’s such thing as a bad nursing school.

I did apply to High Point the other day so thanks everyone so much for the help!
