More specialization Vs Double Major

I am majoring in chemical engineering. I have two options:

1) Take more electives (such as organic chemistry, Chemical Synthesis I, Physical Chemistry I, Physical Chemistry Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry)

2) Double major in Physics (taking four additional courses Electromagnectic fields, Modern Physics, Quantum Physics, Advanced Modern Physics)

I cannot decide which option to choose. I think I will enjoy both options equally. Both which will be more beneficial in long run, 1 or 2? Or it does not matter?

Do you plan on doing interdisciplinary work and going to graduate school? If your answer is yes, and you genuinely enjoy physics as much as ChemE, then yes, double major.

If you plan on going into the workforce, don’t necessarily want to do interdisciplinary work, and like physics alright but not as well as ChemE, I would advise against it.

As far as middle ground… well, you’ll have to judge for yourself.
