Let me be blunt. I am applying to a lot of schools, I think 26 total amoung my reject ED, acceptence EA and all the RD ones. However, I have run into a problem. When I tried to submit the Yale application on the 30th, the Common App (24 of my schools use it) told me that I had 20 colleges selected and sending my application failed (even though on the aprticular application I had open, I was sending only 1). Does anyone know if this was a glitch or does the Common Application actully not permit sending to more than 20 colleges online (not at the same time)? It would suck if it does because while I got all of my 1/1 applcations out, three of the ones due 1/15 save the applicant $55 each for an online applciation.

are you really really really really rich to apply to 26 colleges because thats over a thousand bucks on apps man!

I checked their website. If you scroll down on the instructions page you will see:

the Common App Online limits the number of colleges you can select per account to 20. If you have exceeded the 20 College selection limit you will be notified as such

So there's your answer.

SO does that mean I have to amil the others?

Looks like it.

Would you seriously even consider going to ALL of those 20 schools over your EA acceptance school?

Just create a new common app account and copy and paste your info. in.

Remove the colleges, send 20, then add the rest in and those.

I registered for a new common app under a different screen name, copied and pasted all the information, and then tried it again. It seems to work now (submitted it to Grinnell). BTW, for the person who asked, my EA was a safety school.
