More than half of all cases heard by Harvard College’s Administrative Board last fall resulted in required to withdraw verdicts, according to an email sent by Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Michael D. Smith to the Harvard community on Friday morning.

About half of the remaining cases resulted in disciplinary probation, while the rest resulted in no disciplinary action, Smith wrote.

I’d never seen statistics before, but that doesn’t surprise me. Harvard is big on time off. That was their go-to solution for every kind of problem when I was an undergrad. I don’t think that handling discipline and other kinds of crises is an area of strength for them.

More than half - withdrawal
Almost half - probation
The rest - no action.

I ask, rest of what? Don’t 2 halves make a whole?

“half of the REMAINING cases resulted in disciplinary probation, while the rest resulted in no disciplinary action”
