More than one essay?

I've already sent in everything I can to pitt--letters of rec, transcript, etc. I also sent in an essay about being drum major of my hs marching band for two years. However, I was wondering if I should send in a Why Pitt essay as well, since it's my first choice. Or, would that be considered excessive?

Anyone, help please?

Just got back from the Ready, Set, Pitt program and I believe one essay is plenty although there was mention some students tend to send in lots of extra stuff. She didn’t sound to enthusiastic about having to go through all the extra material. She did say that Pitt does a “megascore” of the ACT and SAT tests so you can send in all your scores.

Don’t send in a second essay. It’s excessive and the admission committee really doesn’t need it to make a decision. I’d also add that a “Why Pitt” essay is probably what the committee sees the MOST of, so sending in a different topic (which you did) looks better anyway.

But would it affect me negatively if I sent it in?

As in, affecting my chances of getting in?

I don’t think it will help at all. I don’t think it will hurt. They only look at an “Application essay”. So I think sending a second one won’t really be looked at or considered.
