common app says 1; vassar website is not specific. so, if i send in, say, 3 recommendations (same as i am doing for my other schools), will they read them, or is it a waste, or will they be annoyed with extra paper in my file? also, is it ok for my recs. to arrive before my app. does? thanks :)

I think most colleges like to see 2 recs, not just 1, and 3 being around the maximum. Having more than 3 is probably not a good idea.

I doubt Vassar requires only 1 Send in 2 or 3, it won’t hurt you, as long as each writer reccommends and speaks of a different side of you.

At an info session I attended this summer an admissions officer said that Vassar requires one from a teacher, one from a counselor, and an optional one from whoever. I’m sending in three, but two is also fine.

OP: It is the norm for the various elements of an application (transcripts, letters of rec, paper application, etc.) to arrive at different times. The minute ANY document arrives, the admissions folks will create a folder for you, and insert your subsequent documents as they arrive.
