More than one student from the same school?

Hey! I was just wondering if Cornell will take more than one student for the same school (public with about 500 students in each grade).

I hope they do... I got in and my friend is applying. Same size as yours. Lol.

Congrats!! Yeah I really hope so too... I know some people that go to Cornell and they make it sound A-M-A-Z-I-N-G :)

Yeah, they will. As long as you are qualified enough to get accepted, I highly doubt school would matter.

It would only matter if your school is historically very strong and sends tons of kids to Cornell.

Yes, definitely. I remember one year from my high school, they admitted 13 students from 1 class, 9 for CAS, 3 for CALS, and 1 for Hotel Administration. 9 of them ended up enrolling.

this thread is exact same thing as this one:

and as far as i know, no school limits based on school. if theres a high school with 500 nobel winners, im sure they'll take cloes to 500 of them. they select based on how good you are.

The colleges say there are not slots, but then why do the preps have exactly the same number matriculated into the top colleges year after year?

Well, last year, three students from my high school got into Harvard. Mind you, the school I'm speaking of is an urban high school in Oakland, CA =P.

well i have 144 kids in our grade and so far 3 have been accepted. last year 11 applied and 4 or 5 got in.

there wre over 600 in my graduating class at 6 got accepted ED

This type of thing varies from year to year, especially if you attend a school outside NY. I went to a CA public HS and my year, there were only 2 matriculants (including me). Then I dated a girl who lived in Balch and on her floor alone were 3 girls from my high school.

Yeah, Cornell, in the past three years at my school, took around 25 kids. Average class size is roughly 400. (70 applied. approx. 23/year)

44 people at my school out of a senior class of 400 applied, and as far as I know so far 3 people (including myself) have been admitted.

The school I go to (small private about 1 hr from Ithaca; ~120 students per class) usually has about 5-6 acceptances a year from Cornell out of around a dozen or so applicants. This year we've already had 2 acceptances. Last year was the exception, though; out of the three that applied, one was waitlisted and the other two were rejected. (But that class was a bit of a black sheep; none of them got into any Ivies. The most selective school anyone got into was Georgetown.)

So yes, they will readily accept more than one student from a school. Don't worry about it.

Year Applied Accepted Enrolled
2008 36 9 4
2007 59 22 7
2006 54 21 9
2005 51 15 10

Only two people (including myself) from my school applied. Well, three if you count my friend who sent an incomplete app with no payment, recommendations, or transcripts. So far only I have heard back.

I went to a big public school (3200 students) and Cornell accepted 9 or 10 from my graduating class with 3 enrolling. My HS has a decent rapport with Cornell, so they accept between 5 - 12 any given year.

me and atleast 7 other kids from my school (class size about 450) applied ED... everyone was rejected except for me and this other guy, we were deferred. he applied to CALS, and me CAS

im not sure how many other people applied reg. decision, but our school usually sends more than five people a year..

chances of me and the other guy who applied ED get in...?

Yea they do. I know that from my school, w/o the the RDs, I personally know about 9 or 10 people who got in. But there are about 1000 in my grade.

This is not about Cornell... but 8 people from my school got into MIT... wow I never knew there were so many smart kids at my school xD rofl jk.
