So I sent all of my application materials in to Smith around the first of March. I had a TERRIBLE time getting my college official's report for the common application. I had e-mailed Smith asking them if there was an alternative person who could fill out the form for me. They replied and said not to worry about it- that they had enough information to make a decision on my application.

So, my mom called me the other day and told me that she had gotten a letter from Smith saying that the official's report was still missing. I got home today and read it myself, and it says that they will consider my application for the 2nd wave of transfer decisions.

I'm just kind of concerned about this. I did in fact get someone to eventually fill out the form for me (as I am applying to Barnard as well), and had it faxed to Smith directly on March 31st. Does being considered in the second wave of applicants significantly lower my chances of getting into Smith? Do they fill most of their spots on the first wave? Any help would be much appreciated!

I would write to Smith and send them any of the communications you may have kept from March,s howing that they had agreed there was enough information. Tell them you'd like to be considered first, and that you don't understand why you should be considered second, since they said you had all the neccessary information. It might be worth it.

Thanks Smithie. I e-mailed them on Friday. They are pretty quick at responding, but if I don't hear back either Monday or Tuesday I'm going to give them a call.

Gah. I e-mailed Smith last Friday and someone e-mailed me (they didn't leave me a name) saying that the information that they had given me was for regular decision applicants and that she was sorry. She then said she forwarded my e-mail to the transfer counselor. That was Monday. Does it usually take this long? I can't decide if I should call, or if I'm just being too impatient.

I also have the same problem! I have sent all of my materials around March and my counselor also has sent the College Official's Form before March 15. I emailed them asking when will I get my decision and they said they haven't got my College Official's Form and I'll get my decision on June (which mean I will be considered in the 2nd wave). I asked them to check my application again, but haven't got any response.

Can I do something about it? AmenoMusicista, did you just fax the form and not sent the original form? Should I fax again my college official's form? Thx for any help.

Oh, BTW, good that AmenoMusicista got a letter about her missing college official's form. I don't even get any infromation about my application from Smith (neither mail or email). If I didn't email them I will know nothing about my application.

Argh! As if the whole transfer process isn't stressful enough, right? I just got off the phone with one of the transfer counselors and she was kind of iffy about giving me a decision. She told me to forward her the e-mail I received about the form and she said she would take it to the director of admissions.

And yes, I did just fax the form. I wanted them to get it as soon as possible, but obviously that didn't really do me much good. lol I would definitely give them a call. It's kind of weird that you haven't heard from them about that form yet.

I called Smith today and the reason why we have to wait until June 2nd is that, since we didn't send our application and other materials in by the February deadline, we have to be considered for the 2nd batch of transfer applicants. That really sucks, but nothing we can really do about it.
