Does it put applicants at a disadvantage if they weren't nominated by their school? I missed the deadline for the school nomination so I self-nominated...

I think it does hurt your chances, but just do your best in the application, there’s still not a bad chance for u to go to the next round.

Do you think the morehead-cain people will think of it as a bad reflection on my part? The two kids nominated from my school aren’t out of the ordinary in any way though. They participate in a few clubs, and that’s all :/

I think it says somewhere on their website that if you self-nominate you should be at least as qualified or better qualified than than the nominees from your school.

The last two students from our school who received the Morehead-Cain were self-nominated. They too missed our HS deadline to receive the nomination. It can be done if you are qualifed.

Do you guys have any advice for me? There’s not much I can do right now since the application has been handed in already, but if I make it past the first round of cuts, any advice?

Also, how big of a factor do you think personality plays in the selection?
